Will my information be kept secure and confidential?
Yes - our volunteers are experts who will never share your
information with anyone else. When you submit the FAFSA online, you
are submitting your information through a secure system created by
the Federal government.
Does the FAFSA or College Goal SundaySM cost
money?
No - in fact, FAFSA stands for FREE Application for Federal
Student Aid. You should never have to pay money to complete the
FAFSA, and College Goal SundaySM is an opportunity to
get FREE help filling out the form.
Who should attend a College Goal SundaySM
workshop?
Anyone interested in attending college or another form of
education or training beyond high school should complete a FAFSA -
and anyone who needs help filling out the FAFSA should attend.
Students should also bring their parent or guardian along when
possible. Students who are already in college are required to
submit the FAFSA each year, so College Goal SundaySM is
a great opportunity for returning college students to get some
extra help too!
Will I need my (or my parents') current tax return to complete
the FAFSA?
If at all possible, you should try to fill out your current tax
return prior to completing the FAFSA (you can fill it out without
filing it, if necessary). If you cannot complete your current tax
return before College Goal SundaySM, then bring your
previous year's return. Please note: if you use previous year's
information to complete your FAFSA, you will need to edit your
FAFSA later.
When should I complete the FAFSA?
You should complete the FAFSA as early as possible after January
1. You should also be aware of any deadlines for submitting the
FAFSA set by your college and any scholarship or grant programs. If
you need to submit the FAFSA in order to meet one of these
deadlines, you can estimate your financial information based on
last year's tax return, then edit the form later to include your
current information.
Can I complete the FAFSA online?
Yes, in fact, completing the FAFSA online is recommended,
because it speeds up the application process. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov
for more information.
