Additional Information

Someone seeking to host a sports or entertainment show has more options than if his or her goal is to become a news anchor. True, a bachelor's degree from a respected television arts program helps. But it is no guarantee you will eventually appear on the air, or even land an entry-level television job for that matter. And people do find alternate routes to a television career.

"Some of the people who work here did not go to broadcast school," says Kevin Brauch, co-host of a children's television show. "Some have a background in research, but they're good people people. They fit in."

Generally, your best bet after graduation is to apply at one of the smaller local affiliates and work your way up.
