Additional Information

The education for courtroom clerks varies. Most learn on the job. Typing skills, filing skills, computer work and some administrative skills are good things to have. Diploma or certificate courses in administration and management can be useful.

"This is mostly done through in-house training," says court clerk Sue Pratt.

Clerk Jackie Meisenheimer agrees. "People may start out as file clerks and work their way up through the system."
