Real-Life Math

Maria is opening a boutique for handmade children's items. She has been looking all over the country for suppliers of fine-woven baby blankets. Unfortunately, she hasn't found high-quality blankets.

That is, until she saw your creations. She orders 10 baby blankets for her store opening. This is quite an undertaking, but you are happy to get the work.

How much wool will you need for each blanket? "The amount of math you need depends entirely on the project," says Frances Schultz, a weaver. "You can work entirely from a book if you want. But the more creative you get, the more you will have to work out your ideas and calculate your needs. You need to have an understanding of math."

For the baby blanket, it will take 338 ends (or pieces of yarn), each 2.5 yards long to create the lengthwise weave of the blanket. Of the ends, 1/2 should be cream-colored, and 1/2 should be green.

How many yards of each color will you need to create the ends?
