Real-Life Math -- Solution

You are creating baby blankets for a new boutique that is opening in your town. This is how you calculate how much wool you need for each blanket.

For the baby blanket, it will take 338 ends (or pieces of yarn in the warp), each 2.5 yards long to create the blanket. Of the ends, 1/2 should be cream-colored and 1/2 should be green.

How many yards of each color will you need to create the ends?

Cream = 1/2 of total ends
1/2 x 338 ends = 169 ends

Each end must be 2.5 yards.

169 ends x 2.5 yards = 422.5 yards

You will need 422.5 yards of cream wool. You will also need 422.5 yards of the red wool to create the rest of the ends.
