Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You turn down the assignment because you think it would be too time-consuming to find people willing to work under those conditions.

This is the real-life decision that personnel recruiter David Spry would make.

"It's very difficult when you get a client that just doesn't understand the marketplace," he says. "They could have requirements that are too exact or [they] are looking for someone to do skilled work for $9 per hour."

He says that it's a waste of a recruiter's time to search for candidates for a job that will take too long to fill.

"You can try and educate the client about the marketplace, or sometimes you have to turn away an assignment," he says.

If a client won't listen or reconsider her demands, then this might be the only option for you. After all, you're trying to make a living too.

"You don't want to waste your time on difficult assignments if you're working on commission."
