You are a cost estimator for a large construction company. One of your jobs is to define the amount of materials it will take to finish the project as it has been proposed. To do this, you must visit the proposed site and gather information.

Your trip to the construction site takes more than half of your day. The site is still nothing more than a large plot of land that has not yet been cleared. However, the surveyors have been out to define the lines on the property for where the building will be. And you have the blueprints available to show you the measurements you will need to determine the cost of the building.

There are 600 acres of land that need to be cleared before the building can be erected. Your first task is to determine the cost of clearing the land.

You estimate that it will take a bulldozer, 6 dump trucks, and a backhoe about 28 days to clear the land. Each piece of large equipment will require a rental fee based on the number of days to be used. Those fees combined come to $50,000.

In addition to the cost of the equipment, you will have to pay wages to the men operating the machinery and clearing the land. You project it will take 30 men working 12-hour days to clear the land in 28 days. Their pay will average $27 an hour. You also figure those men will have 2 days off per 7-day period of work.

According to your projection, how much will it cost in wages to clear the land?
