In order to become a clinical kinesiologist, you must complete a four-year science degree or an applied science degree in kinesiology, human kinetics or kinanthropology.

Take the time to find out about different programs offered at various universities. "Not all academic programs are the same," says kinesiologist Betty Bax.

"Students looking to study kinesiology should research the schools well, asking questions like: What kind of courses will I be taking? What kind of degree will I get? What do I need to get in? What sort of jobs do grads get? What is the focus of the program?"

Some areas of kinesiology require certification in the United States. Check with the admission departments at universities for specifics in each state.

High school students should be taking courses in chemistry, biology, physics and calculus if they're interested in kinesiology.
