Additional Information

Pediatric nurses must be registered nurses. To be registered, they must complete a two- or four-year nursing degree and pass a rigorous licensing exam. U.S. pediatric nurses and nurse practitioners can get additional certification through the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.

Pediatric nurses aren't required to have a bachelor's degree, but it is recommended. An advanced nursing undergraduate or graduate degree will provide improved job options and higher salaries.
