Elevator or Escalator Installer/Repairer

Real-Life Decision Making

It is late in the evening and you are called to the Fairfields apartment building to repair a stuck elevator.

When you get there, you find the building manager in a panic. He points and gestures, but is unable to speak his thoughts clearly. You follow him up the stairs to the floor where the elevator is stuck.

You can hear someone shouting through the walls of the elevator. "I think he's having a heart attack. Help! Help us please!"

The building manager shrieks when he hears this, and begins to cry hysterically. This is an emergency situation. You've got to get those doors open as quickly as you can. Someone's life depends on it. But what should you do first?
