The training to become a rheumatologist is long and extensive. Usually, you need to do an undergraduate degree (generally four years) and then go on to medical school (another four years). Some schools, however, let you complete your undergraduate degree and medical school in six years instead of eight.

After medical school, you must train for a few more years.
