Real-Life Math

As a picture framer, you'll no doubt require math skills.

"If you're no good with numbers, you're going to have constant problems with the margins of your mats," says framer Wilf Damstra. "That's the biggest problem with most young people we've had working for us. If you are no good with numbers, you are in big trouble."

Take a try at this math problem you may encounter as a picture framer.

You're a picture framer getting ready to frame a print a customer has brought in. First you must cut the 4 sides of the frame to glue them together.

Second, you must measure the print. It is 21 inches wide and 15 inches tall.

What are the dimensions of the frame?
