Real-Life Communication

A customer has come into the nursery where you work, complaining about a dying flowering tree. She had purchased the tree from your store the year before, and feels she was sold a "sick" tree. It's your job to find out what caused the tree to die.

It's possible there was a slight problem with the tree when she bought it. It could also be that this customer has a problem with pests on her property.

However, before you jump to any conclusions about these two possibilities, you must first ask some questions about the care, environment and maintenance of the tree. These factors may have been the cause of the ailing tree.

What questions would you ask the customer to get to the root of this problem? Write out a list of questions you would ask the customer.
