Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You ask a couple questions and tell them you can fix their safety problem by simply re-sodding.

This is generally referred to as "a seat of the pants decision" because you didn't take much time to think about it. As a sports turf consultant, you rely on systematic methods of gathering information to propose solutions.

While you're anxious to sign a contract with the client, you shouldn't assume you can tell what is wrong with the field based on what the client says. There may be more to the problem.

"You must take into consideration many problems which are not agronomy-related," says Mark Altman, sports turf consultant. "All the pieces have to fit together and be taken into consideration when working on a project."
