A customer comes into your shop looking for new spokes for 2 of his bicycle wheels. Unfortunately, he doesn't know the length of spokes he will need for either wheel.

"Sometimes we have to figure out things, such as calculating a spoke length," says Ben Kobylianski, a bicycle mechanic. "We do all kinds of measurements and calculations that pertain to the size and fit of a bike."

Your customer does know the circumference of the wheels. With this information, you should be able to discover what length of spokes he will need. What do you tell him?

Calculating the length of a spoke:

The outer rim of one wheel measures 76.65 inches in circumference.
The smaller wheel is 63 inches in circumference.

Formula:
Circumference = Radius x 2 x Pi
Pi = 3.14
