Real-Life Decision Making

It's past closing time in your small data entry company, and the telephone rings. It's Jack Cooper, owner of Cooper and Sons, a respected business in your community. There's been a major loss of data from Cooper's customer database, and they need you to start on the job right away -- right now, at 8 p.m.

Cooper and Sons needs you to recreate their database and enter all of their original records from paper index cards -- and they need you to finish the project within 48 hours.

The extra income would be a boost for your company. However, it's been a very trying week. You have only half your staff with many employees home sick. How can you possibly get such a mammoth job completed in 48 hours with a small staff who is already busy with other office-related matters?

Do you inform Cooper and Sons that you are short-handed, and you can't do the job in 48 hours? Or, do you call in extra help (outsource the job) to meet the deadline?
