Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You leave it out of your catalog.

After thinking it over, you decide not to include the coat in your fall catalog. In early October, you receive several requests from the man's friends to make them the same outfit. Each wants to go dressed as a musketeer to a Halloween party.

When you explain that the coat is tight fitting, only one man actually places an order. However, another man hires you to design a costume befitting an English lord. His wife asks you to make an exquisite floor-length gown and veil that would make Elizabeth I envious.

You are satisfied with your decision. You've managed to attract new customers without harming your reputation.

Costume designer Patty Nickel says that when she's designing costumes, accuracy frequently has to give way to what the client wants. "You may want something accurate, and the client may want something not so accurate. But you have to meet the client's needs."
