Real-Life Decision Making

You've been trying to get your career off the ground for eight years. You play at local clubs and open for some tours as they come through town. But your big break hasn't come. You've got songs ready to record, but no recording deal.

Then one day, an up-and-coming musical act asks to meet with you. They've seen you play. They like your voice and your keyboard work. The group needs a backup singer and keyboard player to accompany them on a world tour that will last at least a year. They offer you a handsome salary and a chance to see the world.

It sounds like a great opportunity, but you have some concerns. Taking all that time away may hurt your own career. While some backup singers -- Cheryl Crowe, for example -- have gone on to individual stardom, you worry about being lost in the mix behind this famous young group.

The band gives you 24 hours to think about it. Rehearsals start in two days and the first leg of the tour starts in two weeks. They leave you alone to think it over. What will you do?
