Real-Life Decision Making

According to Jon Mitchell, storm chasers are constantly faced with decisions that can quickly turn into life-or-death situations.

"Storm chasers are faced with many decisions every time they face a storm," says Mitchell. "We are always trying to decide when and where to start looking for storms."

But once a storm is spotted, the more serious decision making begins. "Once a storm has been found," says Mitchell, "storm chasers have to decide from which direction the storm could best be viewed."

You are on a storm-chasing team in hot pursuit of a particularly severe storm. Suddenly, it begins to rain so hard that you can barely see in front of your vehicle. Raindrops are pounding so furiously against your windshield that the wipers can hardly keep up with the onslaught. You radio the other vehicles in your storm-chasing team -- a decision has to be made, and a quick one at that!

What do you do?
