Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You accept the money and hope for the best.

After all, you really want to make this film.

You soon discover that the friend wants to focus the film on a homeless shelter near his house. He wants the shelter to close down. You don't think the shelter controversy belongs in your film. You continue to argue about the focus of the film -- and he's not even a producer.

"You have to be careful where your funding comes from," says producer Lola Davidson. "If it’s a private investor who really has no idea about filmmaking -- it’s just Joe Blow'’s uncle who wants to give you $2,000 because he really likes the idea and basically wants to hang his head over your shoulder and watch you every step of the way -- I'd rather not do that."
