Real-Life Decision Making

An advertising company has hired you to do the voice-over for a series of advertisements. A few days before the session, you come down with a terrible cold. You call the advertising producer and tell her you won't be able to do the segment because you can hardly speak.

The producer insists that her clients want you to do the voice-over and reminds you that you've signed a contract to do this job on that day. She says the session will only be five or 10 minutes long.

By the day of the session, your cold has turned into bronchitis. You're hoping to just get through the five-minute reading. The producer hands you a script that is going to take at least 70 minutes to read.

You don't want to break your contract and refuse to read the script, but you also don't want to hurt your voice by straining it for 70 minutes. After all, your voice is your livelihood.

What do you do?
