Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You ignore the nest.

After all your work mapping out a place to extend a road, you've realized there was a nest in a tree on the chopping block. You pretend that you did not spot the nest. You do not say anything and you allow the workers to continue cutting down the trees to make the road.

One of the workers notices the nest. He alerts the supervisor and all the work is called off.

"Operators are trained to be sensitive to wildlife and environmental issues. They know to shut down," says John Pineau. He is the executive director of a forestry institute.

You are called into the supervisor's office. Now you must answer questions about the quality of your work. You'll have to work even harder now to earn back your reputation.
