After a few months, Queenie does indeed settle down. In fact, by the time she leaves your care the following spring, she is one of the most promising young show horses you've ever seen. A beautiful, well-mannered beast -- such a change from that four-legged wretch that used to kick stable hands and break down fences.

"Every horse in your barn has a human owner who must be dealt with on often a daily basis," says stable manager Kathy McBride. "The ability to communicate the basic rules of the barn, any problems they or their horse are having or any problems they are causing with other boarders in the barn is a skill that can make or break your business."
