You're a forester working for a government agency. You specialize in silvaculture (the science of growing trees), and it's your job to ensure the trees on government land have the best possible conditions for growth.

One of the conditions which has a great effect on tree growth is the density of (or distance between) the trees in a given area. Each tree experiences its best growth under different spacing conditions. Some trees need lots of room to spread their roots, others need less.

Today, you're looking at a forestry survey on the tree density on a reforested area of this government land. The numbers on your survey say the average distance between the trees is 22.6 square feet. The one-acre area was replanted in 1984. It's getting toward the time when the trees may need to be thinned out to achieve their best growth.

Given that the trees on this parcel of land are coniferous, which means they grow best at about 1,620 trees per acre, figure out if you will need to send in a forestry crew to thin out the area this year. Hint:
1 acre = 43,560 square feet
