Real-Life Math

You are an excavation contractor working to level a property for development. You've been hired to remove 300 cubic yards of dirt from the site. You need to know how many dump trucks you'll need to schedule in order to keep excavation moving at a steady rate.

You know that different types of soil expand at different rates when they are dug up. Tests prove this soil is quite sandy and has an expansion rate of 1.2 when you take it from the ground. Each dump truck holds 10 cubic yards of material.

The backhoe takes 5 minutes to load each truck. It takes 20 minutes for each truck to go and dump its load and come back. How may trucks will you need to have working and how many loads will each truck have to make to finish the job?
