Now calculate that into a percentage:

300 / 600 x 100 = 50

She's wrong. The food bank has seen a 50 percent increase in the number of clients, not a 30 percent increase as she told you. This is an even more remarkable change. At that rate, you will consider doing a program on the reasons for the increase.

Listeners expect you to get your facts right, and that includes numbers.
