It is a landscape architect's job to work with -- not against -- the environment. Because of this, landscape architects must understand as much about the environment as they do about architecture.

You're a landscape architect. You're working with a client who has asked for a written report about your approach to design. You've done that, but the client has come back to you with a few questions.

"I don't quite understand some of the words in this report," the client says. "What do you mean by inexhaustible resources? And I certainly don't know what replaceable and maintainable resources are. Finally, what are irreplaceable resources?"

You realize you've got to explain these terms to the client and give some examples of what these things are.

Do some thinking and research. Explain these terms in language anyone can understand.
