Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You keep the contract.

This is the real-life decision made by landscape architect Brad Johnson.

You study the site again and come up with a design for the layout of the shopping complex. You do your best to work the rivers and streams in with the plans for the buildings. Still, much of the natural flow of the water is disturbed, as is the spawning route for the fish.

"It was a tough decision, and a decision I've always regretted," says Johnson. "But if I had opted out of the project, who knows? Things might have been even worse. The developer already had permission from the city to develop the land, so there was not much else I could do in the situation."
