Real-Life Communication

"Communication skills are absolutely essential," says academic advisor John Hagmann.

"Not only conversational skills, but writing, typing and handling conflict are also used each day when talking with students. Being able to communicate with fellow employees, supervisors and committees is essential as well," says Hagmann.

Write a brief memo to the teaching staff asking them to remind students of your availability throughout the school year. Include a list of the types of issues with which you can assist students.
