In your job at the hospital, you discover that your patient has a fever. When this happens, your job is to phone the doctor and see if he wants to order medication or another treatment for the patient.

If the doctor orders something, you must note the medication on the doctor's order sheet, transcribe it on the patient's medication sheet, and tell the charge nurse that you have made the entry. Then you would make a note in your nurse's records document that you told the charge nurse.

You notice that George Jones, one of your patients, has a high temperature, which is an indication of a fever. You phone Jones' physician, Dr. Wilson, at his office and explain the problem. "Give him Tylenol every four hours for the fever, as needed," says the doctor.

Outline the steps in the process that you would follow and the notes that you would make.
