Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You wait and see if the situation improves.

You do nothing and wait to see if the situation improves. Part of the reason is that you don't want to tell the person that they aren't doing their job right, and part of the reason is that you think the figures will be better next week.

But they aren't. Now you are really worried. Why are they so bad when they were so good last year? Is the person lazy or what?

Doing nothing can sometimes be the right decision. But often it is because we don't want to deal with the issue.

It is hard to deal with a difficult situation (or as we more often think of it -- a difficult person). This can be because people tend to blame others while excusing their own faults.

When someone else falls down on the job, we tend to say, "That lazy person never does anything right!" But when we fail we tell ourselves, "I was sick. How could I do a good job when I'm not feeling well?"

You need to know why there is poor performance and then help the person meet the fund-raising goals. The problem might not be that the person is incapable. Or stupid. Or lazy. Or that they don't want to do the job.

It could be something easily fixed. It could be as simple to solve as the person's babysitter moved away and they don't have another babysitter to watch the toddler while they canvass for money.
