You are a logistics manager. You attend a workshop. You find it informative and interesting and return to work revved up and ready to implement some new ideas.

You need to write a memo to the company's executives explaining what you heard. That means translating jargon into English.

  • Continuous flow distribution: the flow of products in response to customer requirements. This minimizes the total costs of distribution
  • Benchmarking: using specific measurements to compare performance against another standard
  • Best practice: the best way to do something
  • Bleeding edge: a move so far ahead of its time that it may create a problem
  • Breaking out of the box: solving common problems with uncommon thinking
