Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You take the camel and begin to bottle-feed it.

This is the real-life decision that zookeeper Grant MacFarlane would make. "Right now I'm working with a camel," he says. The calf wasn't strong enough to nurse.

The deciding factor for MacFarlane was whether the calf could stand.

"If the calf has the power to stand, then it can nurse," he says. It may just need a little help figuring out how to nurse. "But if it's lying down, then it's time to scoop it up and bottle-feed it. It can't nurse lying down."

The decision also rests on other factors such as the strength of the mother and the state of the weather.
