Education Level

Education training and experience are required at different levels for success in different occupations.

High school (GED), plus on-the-job training

Most boilermakers learn their trade through an apprenticeship program. Apprentices must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Extra Requirements

Employers may require or prefer that boilermakers hold certification from the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Welding certifications may also be helpful.
