Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You do a safety check on your harness.

This is the real-life decision that window cleaner Richard Fabry would make. It doesn't take long to double-check a harness.

"There are safety guidelines that you have to follow if you are working on high-rise buildings," says Fabry. "You might want to work faster, but you can't cheat on any of the steps. It would be foolish."

Even if you didn't remove the harness, one of the loops may have come undone while you went down the stairs. It is always better to be safe.

"When you're working on top of a building, and you forget some of your equipment, it can be a waste of time, so you have to think ahead," says Fabry.
