Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You decide that since you haven't removed it, you don't need to check it again.

You begin to descend over the building. As you lower yourself, you hear the material in your harness begin to tighten.

You look down and see that the straps around the legs have been fastened, but they haven't been doubled back through to make them stronger. How could you have missed that during your first check?

Then you remember. On your way back up the building, you stopped to go to the bathroom, and undid the harness and readjusted it.

You slowly hoist yourself up to the top of the building and adjust your harness. You weren't injured, but you have lost more valuable time.

"Depending on what type of window cleaning you are doing, the decisions can be more complicated," says window cleaner Richard Fabry. "If you are working high up, you have to do all your safety checks, no questions asked."
