Real-Life Communication
It has been a long and grueling two months. With the deadline for
your country plan approaching, you have been working long hours to prepare
and finalize the plan that will guide the demining effort in Turkey for the
next two years.
Finally, however, you have finished it. From the budget
breakdown -- $12 million total, with 20 percent of that for labor, 20 percent
for equipment, 20 percent for administrative fees and 40 percent for survivor
benefits, it looks like a great budget.
You have also outlined how
many people it will take to carry out this demining program: 15 deminers who
will each have to train at least five natives during the 18 months they are
there. And you have arranged with the American consulate in Turkey to work
with the Turkish government to get the support needed to make the program
a success.
All that is left to do now is to deliver the country report
to Mr. James Markus, the director of the demining program, along with a cover
letter which briefly outlines the contents of the proposal.
The country
plan and cover letter can be delivered through e-mail, making it faster to
communicate. All you need to do is write the cover letter, in the format of
an e-mail message.
Don't forget to include the budget breakdown, the
length of the program and the number of people -- both those training and
those being trained -- and who will guide those people.
Write the letter,
remembering to use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.
