Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You reject the offer.

This is the real-life decision of developer Duane Ewing in California. "We were approached by the [agricultural chemistry] industry to head up a task force for [the] EPA," says Ewing. "I was excited because it was such a huge project."

It would also generate a lot of money for the company. "It was tantalizing to get involved."

Ewing saw an opportunity for increasing the company's reputation and to make financial gains. But he decided not to go with the project. "I knew we just didn't have the staff or the structure to be able to work and finish a project like this."

The ability to drum up business is an asset to a company, but the ability to see when to accept or turn down offers is even more crucial.
