Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You find another camera to do the job.

You don't have a camera of such high quality readily available, so you decide to rely on other shooting angles for the show. In 25 minutes, the show begins rolling, and the camera operators get to work.

After the show, the producer is angry about the quality of the show, saying that he expects good quality technical production every day. You explain the problem. The producer asks if you tried to fix the camera before finding another solution.

He storms over, looks at the camera, removes a bit of dirt jammed in the lens, and solves the problem.

"The final step after your shoot is to figure out how to not let this happen again," says engineering manager Joe Conlon.

"Do these things need to be checked sooner? Planning to set up three hours ahead of time is great, but if you don't test everything until you're going to use it, that's where you run into the issues."
