Real-Life Decision Making

When you walk into the office, Veronica, the company director, greets you with a smile. She's happy to see you. She's counting on you to transform their office. You tour the office with her to get an idea of what could be done to make people's work easier.

The workers look at you suspiciously. You ask them what tasks they do throughout the day and you find that half of them are doing jobs that could easily be done on a computer.

One person is in charge of scheduling work hours. This takes him all day. You know a computer could do the calculations in one minute.

You go back into Veronica's office. She closes the door.

"We want to get this entire department to a level where the computer runs every aspect," she says. "We want to be able to get rid of every person working out there. Is that possible?"

You glance out the window at the sea of workers.

"All of those jobs gone? All of those people out of work because of me?" You sigh and turn back to Veronica. You think you can eliminate all of those jobs, but do you want to? What are you going to tell Veronica?
