Real-Life Communication -- Solution

Connor McGuire says that part of the job of a professional singer is to contact promoters. He adds that just going to local bars that have local music and making yourself known can really spark some interest. You have to find out what kind of promoters set up shows there and find out if it is a place that could have you play.

"Talk to them. A lot of the time it's really nerve-wracking to just straight-up e-mail the guy and say, 'hey, I'm in a band,'" says McGuire. "Basically, you're doing their work for them when you do that."

In your e-mail, you can write something along the lines of:

Hello:
I'm a local singer and songwriter who is interested in playing at your club. I'm a solo artist who plays indie-style music with live acoustic. Playing professionally for about three years, I have performed in various local bars, lounges and coffee shops such as the Lime Lounge, Music Cafe, and the Flash Bar and Lounge.
I would like the opportunity to play in your club during one of your live music evenings. Below, I have included a link to my website where you may listen to a sample of my most recent tracks, as well as read my bio and view images of some of my performances.
Please feel free to contact me by phone or through e-mail to discuss this further.
Sincerely,
