Real-Life Decision Making

You're a parole officer working with a young man named Jeff. Jeff is on parole for a misdemeanor and has been sticking to the terms of his parole. He's friendly to deal with and realizes that the crime he committed was a mistake in judgement that he regrets. He's a model parolee.

One of the conditions of Jeff's parole is that he stays away from alcohol. He isn't allowed to have even one sip, and he isn't allowed in bars, nightclubs or licensed events.

Jeff has asked for an exception. His high school reunion is coming up, and he thinks it'd be a very positive experience for him to see his old friends and focus on the positive aspects of his life since school. Unfortunately, the reunion will have plenty of alcohol.

You see the potential positive side of what Jeff is saying: this could really help him connect with some good, old friends and be a great step forward in his life. The potential negative side is that he needs to stay away from alcohol and hasn't really proven that he can resist the temptation. What do you do?
