Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You tell the customer about the flaws.

You schedule a time to talk to him about the plans, and then set about drawing plans with the corrected flaws outlined.

When you meet, the customer is very upset by the knowledge that the plans are not workable. You talk to him and explain that designing boats is different from designing buildings. Then you show him the plans you have drawn with the corrected flaws.

Together, the two of you work out the design flaws, and still manage to keep very close to the look he was shooting for with his plans. You build the boat, and he is very pleased with the final results. You've scored another satisfied customer who will tell others what a wonderful job you did.
