Real-Life Communication

You are a hypnotherapist who owns and operates a small business called Trance Time Inc. Your busy season has arrived. You decide to run a small ad in the town newspaper.

"Promotion is vital in my field," says hypnotherapist Wayne Perkins, "and communication plays a big role. Developing a rapport with the person is key."

You'll want to touch on the following items for your advertisement:

  • You are a trained professional who was educated at Stanford University.
  • Try to sell flexibility -- you can do either individual therapy sessions or group therapy sessions.
  • Focus on the beneficial aspects of hypnotherapy for help with smoking cessation, weight loss, or confronting fears or phobias in a non-threatening manner.
  • Convey the idea of getting to know one another before beginning hypnotherapy. You must have your client's trust.
  • Mention your incentive plan; you provide free consultations.
  • Briefly touch on your very competitive rate. It does not have to have specific numbers.
  • You want your ad to be catchy in order to keep the reader's interest, and it cannot be too long -- no one wants to spend five minutes reading an advertisement.
