Good morning everyone. As you know, I am the supervisor on this job. Before you all go up in the sky for the first time, I wanted to say a few words.
You are about to enter a profession with a long and noble history. Look around. The skyscrapers of the world were built by ironworkers who came before you.
That means you are taking on a big responsibility when you step onto this building. You are saying you're prepared to do the best job you can, that you're willing to do dangerous work in exchange for good pay.
It also means you will play by the rules.
Ironworkers don't horse around when they're in the air. There's nothing funny about putting someone's life in danger.
Ironworkers always wear their safety harnesses and always think safety first. If you're not willing to follow this rule, you might as well leave now. You will be suspended or fired if caught without your harness.
Ironworkers follow orders. Again, up there, there's no room for showboating or hot-dogging or cowboys who do things their own way.
Ironworkers come to work with a clear head and they stay focused all day.
If you are willing to do all these things, then I welcome you to one of the world's greatest professions.
