Real-Life Math -- Solution

Putting on a seminar in a good hotel with a catered lunch is not cheap, as you soon find out!

Total for the seminar room, advertising and lunch is:

$1,500 + $440 + $500 = $2,450

Taxes are 12 percent of this. That equals $294.

When you add in your fee of $1,300, the total, including taxes is $4,044.

Then you divide that by the number of people coming:

$4,044 / 60 = 67.40

With 60 participants, the cost of the seminar will be $67.40.

"Math and technology are increasingly important. As the delivery of messages moves online, those with technological expertise will have an added advantage," says speaker Terry Paulson.
