Real-Life Decision Making

As the CKO of a large corporation, you are given command of a fairly generous budget to invest in the latest technology.

You have been reading about a new knowledge management computer program called Wincite 5.0 that is being tested right now. This interests you because it may help you save time and possibly money if it is installed on your employees' computers -- it would give them access to the information you analyze.

It sounds like a great idea, but the program has not yet been fully tested and your boss would rather rely on human contact in small meetings.

If you buy the program, you think it will save you time and money and give you the opportunity to focus on other projects you have wanted to sink your teeth into. Employees will be encouraged to become self-sufficient and not have to rely on you as often as they do now. You believe it will also help you stay ahead of the competition.

If you don't buy the program, things will continue much the same way as they do now and your workload will remain constant. You will save the company money. What do you do?
