Real-Life Decision Making

Foreign service officers must be good problem solvers. They must be quick thinkers who can analyze and evaluate all situations they encounter on the job. They must also have excellent judgment. Somebody's life could depend on it!

Foreign service officers often travel and live overseas with immediate family. This sometimes includes pets. During threatening situations, the foreign service evacuates fellow citizens, but pets are not part of this policy.

You must help evacuate families during a dangerous situation, and you encounter Ms. Wisenheimer, who refuses to go unless Poochy, her dog, can go too. You explain the evacuation policy, but she emphatically states that she will not move unless Poochy goes too.

You have been told not to board anybody with pets. Time is running out! What do you do?
