Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You clean up your act, confident that in doing so you will win yourself a whole new audience.

Although you had the best intentions in trying to clean things up, you couldn't have been more naive. Los Angeles has had abrasive comedians in the past. What made you think they'd be offended by your rough style? You weren't true to yourself and it will end up costing you.

"I'm sorry, kid," says Mr. Bigelow after only a month, "I don't know what's wrong with you but I don't think you have what it takes to make it in this business. You can pick up your severance check in the office tomorrow."

"On stage, you must be able to act out your character's personality throughout the whole set," says stand-up comic Greg Phelps. "If you bounce in and out of character the crowd won't buy your jokes. The rule of thumb is to be yourself. It'll pay off in the end."
