Real-Life Decision Making -- Solution

You find a way to get the screw to finish the job.

"The driver could handle the situation in several ways if it was not feasible for him to leave the residence," says Tuck. Finishing the bookcases would be the best solution in order to keep the customer happy and contribute to the company's reputation.

"Asking another crewmember to go in a private vehicle to pick up the item is one solution. Another would be to have the shipper pick up the screw, with the driver paying for the part. Another solution would be for someone from the destination office to pick up the part and deliver it to the job site.

"A final solution might be to have a second crew or a quality control crew that was going to be in the area of the delivery later that day or the next day to pick up the part and then assemble the bookcase. As with any problem, a little creative thinking will deliver wonderful results."
